Day 28: One
Not the end of the world, just (almost) the end of the challenge.
We’re nearly there. Two more days and you’ll be able to say you’ve written your way through a whole month (or at least read your way through too many emails about writing).
Before we wrap up, let’s zoom out a bit.
If you could write one text — one book, one article, one letter, one post — and that piece would be your legacy, what would it be about? What truth (or fiction) would you want to leave behind? What story, idea, or message would you want people to remember you for?
For me, it’s clearly a book about writing. I’m working on it. I’ve been working on it for too many years. I have other ideas that I’d like to write, but that’s the one that’s bugging me and needs to get out before anything else. If I only get that one right, I’d probably be happy for life. Well, maybe for a few years.
What’s that for you right now?
Prompt (pleasure, not homework 🌙)
If you could get one piece of writing done…
What would it be — a book, a note, a post, a letter?
Who would it be for?
What message would it carry?
You don’t need to write the whole thing — just sketch it out (unless it’s a really short note and you nail it now and it’s job done forever 🎉).
Rules (you know them, but they help):
☕ Pick a time to write and tie it to a ritual (morning coffee, evening tea).
⏱ Write for 25 minutes — no less. More only if you’re in the flow.
🎶 Music helps (here’s a fitting playlist - also watch the movie, if you haven’t).
🪑 Show up anyway. Even if you don’t feel like it, stay with the page. Write anything, doodle.
📓 Writing by hand can help you focus (any notebook will do).
✍️ Make it yours. If today’s theme doesn’t click, write about something else that feels close.
💌 Optional: Shrug & Send. Keep the outline or the sketch. Print it and put it somewhere close to your eyesight. I hope you’ll keep working on it. And, if you’re so inclined, I’d love to get a peek.
